Frequently Asked Questions for Prospective Home Watch Clients
If you are unfamiliar with Home Watch or how TE Reliable operates, here are the answers to some frequently asked questions. Please let us know if you have any additional questions or if you need clarification.
What is Home Watch?
Home Watch is the visual inspection of your property, looking for obvious issues. At no extra cost, TE Home Services carefully looks for a variety of issues that are not so obvious, such as indications of insects or rodents, potential pool pump issues, cracks in drywall or stucco, etc. Most importantly, we fully document our visits to your property with a completed checklist and pictures & descriptions of any issues.
Why do I need Home Watch?
Home Watch is needed to prevent small issues from turning into big and potentially expensive issues. For example, if you have a water leak from any source, mold can begin to grow in as little as 72 hours (that only 2.5 days). TE Reliable recommends weekly or bi-weekly visits.
In case you are considering your friends/neighbors or family to watch your property when you’re away, there are several issues to consider. Do they know what to look for? Do they use a checklist to ensure that everything has been checked? Are they reliable? Will they maintain your confidentiality?
Will Home Watch prevent issues from occurring?
No one can predict when and where a problem will occur in your home. To the extent that there are indications of a future issue, we will identify the potential issue so that you are aware and can make a decision whether to take action.
What do your Home Watch Services include?
Please review our home services checklist by clicking here. If there are additional items that you’d like us to check, please ask.
How does TE Reliable protect my privacy?
We’re in your house for a single purpose, to look for obvious issues. That requires that we thoroughly look at your floors, ceilings, under your sinks, etc. There is no reason for us to look at anything in your house unrelated to the Home Watch. Your privacy is completely protected.
Why is Water Instrusion a Threat to My Florida Home?
There are two aspects to the water intrusion threat. The first is that we have hurricanes and severe storms in Florida on a regular basis. Every Summer there are severe thunderstorms which have high winds, large amounts of rain, and may have hail. These storms could damage your roof or a tree could fall, damaging a window. And then you have water intrustion. The second is that the building materials, especially water pipes, may crack over time, allowing water to leak into your home.
Why is Mold a Threat to My Florida Home?
Florida's high temps, high humidity, combined with the presence of water are the ideal conditions for mold to begin to grow. It can start to grow in less than 72 hours.
